Communication
Communicating with Mr. Bernhardt
The best way for students and learning coaches (ANYONE helping a student to succeed) to communicate with me outside of school is by emailing bernhardtc1@fultonschools.org. Any email sent prior to 8:00 PM on school days will receive a response that day. Emails sent after 8:00 PM will receive a response, in most cases, the following school day before 12:00 PM.
For questions needing a quick response during school or after hours before 8:00 PM on school days, create a post in the “Questions” channel of our class Team and tag me by typing @Bernhardt, Christian. I will receive a notification and can respond more quickly. Learning coaches may use this option too, but you will need to have your student send the message. Messages sent after 8:00 PM may get a response that evening, but definitely before 7:00 AM the next school day.
For questions or concerns from students, learning coaches, or both that require a more detailed discussion or demonstration, we can use the meeting feature available in Teams. You can request this option in your email to me, or I will respond with the suggestion that we meet together online.
Student Communication Expectations
In Mr. Bernhardt’s class, the only acceptable way to communicate with others in any format (verbal, written, actions) and for any reason is with kindness. There is absolutely no exception to this expectation.
Students must check their school email during Compass every school day; this applies to in-person and remote learning days. Students should also check email at least once in the evening of school days. I recommend after dinner.
Reply to any emails from Mr. Bernhardt and classmates within 24 hours, excluding weekends and school holidays.
All written communication should be done using proper English grammar and punctuation. No text speak is allowed.
